Economic Downturn
One reason that everybody seems to be depressed is as a result of the economic downturn.
It would seem as if there's just bad news and then further negative news.
There's a real air of concern with regard to the coming decade.
Unemployment figures are rising and the house marketplace is stagnant.
The metropolitan riots dismayed the nation, and now we're expecting the most sizable national strike since the 20s. I acknowledge that there might be some bad news about.
However the more we dwell on the negative side of things, the more dismal it looks.
I remember my gran used to say to us that laughter was the most effective remedy.
Last month I organized my 1st Laughter Bus.
I have only done it a couple of times so far, however it has been a tremendous hit.
On the first Tuesday of every month, I organise an excursion to a comedy club in a nearby city. I promote it a couple of weeks before, finalise the number of people going, then buy the tickets and hire the coach. I managed to get a first-rate discount for getting the tickets for the whole group, plus I got a discount on the bus hire, therefore it worked out really cheap. The first time it was largely my acquaintances who were there.
There were approximately ten of us and we travelled to one of the comedy clubs Reading.
It was such a great time that word-of-mouth created a buzz and this month nearly 45 folk wanted to go along. I needed to rent a larger bus! This time we went to one of the comedy clubs Portsmouth. We laughed throughout the show and the whole journey home afterwards.
These days it appears like everyone is always depressed. I think there are a number of reasons for this.
The principal motivation is the climate.
Everybody knows that the British weather isn't wonderful, however it seems like it's been even worse than usual of late. This wintertime was particularly poor, particularly in the north of the United Kingdom. I don't remember the last time I saw that depth of snow.
After the poor wintertime, everyone was passionately desperate for a nice summertime to make up for it. However the summer was a no-show. According to studies, it was the coldest, wettest summer for many years.
